University Physical Therapy (UPT) is staffed by faculty members of UNC Chapel Hill. Our therapists average over 20 years of clinical experience and look forward to serving you. We are dedicated to excellent patient care, clinical research, and educating the next generation of therapists.

We provide physical therapy that can help address problems with:
- Strength and endurance
- Flexibility and mobility
- Discomfort or pain that affects daily activities
- Return to work or recreational activities
- Return to sports activities
- Custom foot orthotics
- Balance assessments and training
- Walking with or without an assistive device, including stairs
Faculty clinicians also participate in numerous research studies, advancing knowledge physical therapy and occupational therapy practice. Patients may have the opportunity to participate in a clinical research project if they are interested. Some of the areas of focus for the clinical faculty include:
- Gait and balance
- Fall prevention
- Foot/ankle dysfunction
- Knee dysfunction
Faculty clinicians contribute to teaching in the physical therapy programs and are dedicated to the clinical education of students. This clinic is actively involved in training students who are completing clinical observations, clinical experiences, internships, and residencies. Patients may have the opportunity to observe and participate in student educational experiences.
At Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC), students, supervised by faculty members, provide medical services for the uninsured through a cooperative effort of students from the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Information and Library Science and the Division of Physical Therapy.
